H20T gimbal keeps drifting after hard stop ? is this normal or am i missing something

so ive been running the H20T on my M300 for a few months now and for the most part its been solid but lately ive noticed the gimbal drifts maybe 2-3 degrees on the roll axis after i do a hard stop from a fast pan. like ill swing the camera around quickly to track something and then when it settles there's this slow creep back that takes like 4-5 seconds to fully stabilize. its not catastrophic but when im trying to get clean inspection footage it shows up as this weird slow drift in the clip.

ive already done the gimbal auto-calibration from the app twice and it doesnt seem to make a difference. the firmware is current as of last week. wondering if maybe the motors are starting to go or if this is something in the PID tuning that i can actually get into and adjust. anyone dealt with this or is it just a quirk of the H20T that ive been living with without realizing it

yeah this happens with the H20T after heavy use, the gimbal motors on that unit are not exactly overbuilt for the weight of the thermal sensor combination. what you're describing sounds more like a motor torque issue than a calibration thing. the auto-cal really only handles the leveling offsets it doesnt touch the motor response curves at all.

if you're on enterprise support with DJI worth opening a ticket because theyve replaced gimbal assemblies under warranty for exactly this kind of behavior. outside of that i dont think theres a user-accessible PID adjustment on that platform, at least not through any official channel. some people have had luck with the DJI Assistant 2 for Enterprise doing a deeper IMU and gimbal reset sequence, not just the in-app cal. go into assistant, connect while powered, and look for the gimbal advanced settings ? theres a reset option in there that clears more than the basic cal does.

not sure about the M300 specifically but i had something similar on an older Zenmuse and it turned out one of the ribbon cables inside the gimbal arm was starting to separate. the connection was intermittent enough that it wouldnt throw an error but the motor feedback was just slightly off and caused that exact drifty settling behavior you're talking about. worth looking closely at the gimbal arm connection point if you can.
