so ive been flying the original Avata for about a year now, mostly indoor corridors and some outdoor park stuff, and honestly it still feels great to me. the stabilization on it is insane for what it is. but i keep seeing people say the Avata 2 is a massive step up and i genuinely cant tell if thats true or just upgrade hype.

main things i care about are the image quality in low light because i do a lot of late afternoon shots and the original gets pretty muddy past like 400 ISO, and also obstacle avoidance since i have definitely clipped a few doorframes lmao. anyone actually gone from v1 to v2 and noticed a real difference day to day or is it one of those things that only matters on a spec sheet

went from v1 to v2 back in spring and honestly the low light thing alone was worth it for me. shooting the same spot i used at golden hour and the noise is just way more manageable, not perfect but you can actually grade it without it falling apart. obstacle avoidance is also genuinely better, like it actually stops instead of just slowing down and kissing the wall anyway.

that said if you're mostly doing indoor corridors the v1 is still totally fine. the form factor is pretty similar and the flight feel isnt dramatically different. if low light is a real pain point for your work id say go for it, otherwise maybe wait and see if prices drop

i tried the avata 2 at a friends place and the goggles 3 integration felt smoother but i mean i havent owned the v1 so i cant really compare directly. image did look clean though
