so ive been going back and forth on this for a few weeks now and i cant really make up my mind. been using litchi for maybe two years on my mini 3 pro and it works fine but i keep hearing people talk about dronelink like its the second coming or something. the interface on litchi feels a little dated at this point and the web mission planner is ok but nothing special.

main thing i need is reliable waypoint missions with altitude holds that actually respect terrain ? had a couple sketchy moments on litchi where i swear the altitude was drifting more than it should on a hillside survey. nothing catastrophic but enough to make me nervous. does dronelink handle terrain following better or is that more of a dji terra thing at that point

also is anyone using either of these for anything more serious than hobby stuff, like actual mapping or inspection work

dronelink is genuinely better for complex mission stuff in my experience, the terrain following in particular is way more configurable. you can set AGL holds per waypoint and it actually talks to the elevation API properly instead of just doing a rough interpolation. that said the learning curve is steeper, took me a solid weekend to feel comfortable with the interface and i still mess up the component actions sometimes.

for your hillside issue that sounds like it might also be a home point elevation thing with litchi ? if the home point isnt set right the relative altitude gets thrown off. worth checking before you switch apps entirely, might not be the app at all

i use dronelink for inspection work on comm towers and it's been solid. wouldnt go back to litchi honestly. the mission templates save a ton of time once you set them up.
