so ive had the Mini 4 Pro since around october and figured id share some actual thoughts now that the honeymoon phase is over. i came from a Mini 2 SE so take that for what its worth.

the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance is genuinely useful, not just a gimmick. i was skeptical because my old one had nothing and i just learned to fly careful, but there have been a couple times especially flying through treelines where it actually saved me from a dumb mistake. the APAS 5.0 does hesitate sometimes and takes routes around stuff that feel overly cautious but id rather that than a crash.

image quality is obviously better than the SE, the 4K 100fps is nice for slowing stuff down in post. low light is decent for a mini class drone, not going to replace a Mavic 3 but for the size its impressive. the D-Log M is usable if you spend time on the grade, i dont think its as easy to work with as some youtube videos make it look though.

battery life is pretty much what DJI claims, getting about 30-32 mins in calm conditions which is solid. the RC2 controller is comfortable once you get used to it, the screen is readable in most light except really harsh midday sun.

my one actual complaint is the price. the fly more combo is a lot of money for what is technically a toy-class drone registration wise in some countries. if you already have a Mini 2 or Mini 3 the upgrade math is hard to justify unless you really need the obstacle avoidance. if youre coming from something older or nothing at all its a really good buy though.

yeah the low light thing on the mini 4 pro gets overhyped a bit. its good for the class but people on youtube compare it to full size drones and then newcomers expect miracles. that said ive shot some genuinely nice sunset footage with mine that i wouldnt have expected from something this small.

the RC2 screen i actually disagree with you slightly on, i find it fine in direct sun but maybe thats a brightness setting thing? i bumped mine all the way up day one and havent had issues. the heat though, that controller gets warm fast in summer, noticed that a lot.

this is helpful, im currently trying to decide between the mini 4 pro and just waiting to see if the mini 5 or whatever they call it comes out this year. do you think the obstacle avoidance is worth the price jump over the mini 3 pro or are they pretty similar in practice? i mostly fly open fields and parks so maybe i dont even need it that much
