ok so ive been flying freestyle for maybe 8 months now and my rolls just look terrible on the DVR. like theyre not snappy at all, they kind of drift and it feels mushy through the sticks. im on a 5inch with a pretty standard race tune i got off a youtube video and i dont know if its the tune or just me being bad lol. anyone else go through this phase or is my P terms just way off

yeah almost definitely your tune if its feeling mushy. race tunes are way too dampened for freestyle, they basically fight you when you want that snappy whip feel. try bumping your P gains up a bit and drop the D a little, and honestly just fly it more before tweaking too much because you can also just get better at commanding the rolls cleaner. took me a solid few months before my split S's stopped looking like a dying fish

what rates are you on? i had the same problem and it turned out i just didnt have enough rotation speed to make it look crisp. switched to higher rates and suddenly everything felt way more intentional. also are you preloading the roll at all before the trick or just slamming the stick over
