so ive been following the remote ID stuff pretty closely since it rolled out and honestly it still feels like nobody really knows whats happening enforcement wise. i fly mostly in open fields near my house and ive never once been asked to show anything or had anyone check my broadcast module. talked to a guy at my local club last weekend who said he got a warning at a park but that was it, no fine, nothing.

anyway i saw some article floating around saying the FAA is planning to actually start cracking down more seriously going into next year, more coordinated with local law enforcement apparently. did anyone else see this or know if theres anything solid to back that up? im not trying to fly illegally or anything i just want to know if this is real news or the usual cycle of vague announcements that dont actually change anything on the ground

yeah i saw something similar on one of the aviation news sites, think it was AVweb or maybe The Air Current, cant remember. the gist was that the FAA is working with some state agencies to actually give officers the tools to identify non-compliant drones in real time rather than just hoping pilots self report. whether that turns into actual enforcement or just more paperwork for everyone i genuinely dont know.

what i do know is that remote ID has kind of become the thing manufacturers are treating as a selling point now which is interesting. like DJI and Autel both lean into it pretty hard in their newer stuff. if youre flying anything pre- and its not on the FAA accepted list it might be worth double checking your compliance situation before this gets more serious
