so ive been flying the original Avata for about a year and a half now and honestly love it, got pretty comfortable in manual mode and its been my go-to for tighter spaces and indoor stuff. but the Avata 2 came out and everyone in my group is telling me to upgrade and im kind of on the fence about it.

the main thing i keep hearing is the image quality is noticeably better and the obstacle avoidance is actually usable now unlike the original which was basically a gimmick. also apparently the prop guard design is less annoying? the original ones are always catching on stuff when i pack it.

but like is it actually a different flying experience or does it feel the same once youre in the air. i dont really care about the goggles 3 upgrade since i already have the goggles 2 and theyre fine. just want to know if someone whos actually flown both thinks its worth dropping the money on

I went from OG Avata to the 2 back in spring and honestly the image quality alone was worth it for me. The color science is just better out of the box and low light performance is a big step up. Flying wise it does feel pretty similar in M mode but the new one feels a bit more locked in somehow, hard to describe, maybe the motors are just snappier. The obstacle avoidance thing is real though, on the original I turned it off immediately because it would freak out over nothing but on the 2 I actually leave the side sensors on sometimes in tighter spots and it mostly behaves itself.

If you already have goggles 2 you're not missing much by not upgrading those, the goggles 3 are nice but not a game changer imo. Whether its worth the money really depends how much you actually fly and whether video quality matters for what you're shooting.

the prop guards on the 2 are def better, more flexible and they dont snag the same way. that alone is like half the frustration gone for me lol. i cant speak to the flying differences too much since i never had the first one but my buddy has both and he said the feel is similar enough that its not a huge revelation or anything
