Air 3 keeps losing signal way faster than it should ? interference or something wrong with my unit

this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a settings thing or if i got a lemon. flying in a pretty open area, not dense urban environment or anything, and im getting signal warnings and sometimes full disconnects at distances that shouldnt even be close to the limit. like we're talking maybe 800 meters and it starts freaking out.

running the RC 2 controller, firmware is up to date as far as i can tell. tried switching between the transmission modes and it doesnt seem to make a huge difference. my buddy has the same setup and he's flying way further without issues in similar conditions so now im second guessing everything.

anyone dealt with this or have any idea what to check first

few things worth checking ? are you holding the controller in a way where your hands or body might be blocking the antennas? sounds dumb but it makes a bigger difference than people realize. also check if there's any wifi heavy zones near where you're flying, even open fields can have interference from nearby structures. the RC 2 is on the same frequencies as a lot of consumer stuff so it can get noisy.

if none of that helps i'd honestly do a full refresh on the link, unpair and re-pair the controller from scratch. had a weird persistent issue once that turned out to just be a corrupted pairing somehow, no idea how that even happens but resetting it fixed everything.

might be worth checking if there's a cell tower or any kind of broadcasting equipment nearby even if the area looks open. i flew at what i thought was a totally clear spot and had terrible range the whole time, turns out there was a radio relay station like half a mile away that i just hadnt noticed. took me embarassingly long to figure that out
