so i was just scrolling through my feed this morning and apparently DJI dropped something new, i think its another mid range model but i honestly couldnt tell if it was a real announcement or just a leak that got picked up everywhere. the specs looked pretty wild if they're accurate ? something about obstacle avoidance on all sides which like, even the mini 4 pro doesnt do fully right? anyway im probably the last person to know about this but figured id ask here since you guys usually have the good breakdown before the youtube channels even post their videos

also separately ? has anyone been keeping up with the FAA remote ID enforcement stuff? i fly mostly in open fields near my house and i keep going back and forth on whether i actually need to worry about it yet or if its still kind of loosely enforced in practice

yeah you're not late exactly, that announcement dropped like two days ago and the forums have been going a bit nuts over it. from what i can piece together from the actual DJI press stuff vs the leak sites, the obstacle avoidance claims are real but theres some fine print about it being limited in certain lighting conditions which... honestly isnt surprising. still looks like a solid step up from what they had before. ill wait for someone to actually crash test it before i get excited lol

on the remote ID thing ? i wouldnt stress too much right now but i also wouldnt ignore it forever. enforcement has been pretty inconsistent from what people report but the rules are real and the fines are theoretically real too. if youre flying under 250g youre mostly fine for recreational anyway, but worth double checking your specific situation

omg i saw this too and immediately went down a rabbit hole for like two hours. the all-direction obstacle avoidance thing is what got me, i crashed my last drone into a tree branch that came out of nowhere so that feature alone would've saved me like $200 in repairs haha. not sure when its actually shipping though, the release dates i saw were all over the place
