So ive had the original Avata for about a year and a half now, mostly use it for indoor cinematic stuff, warehouses, abandoned buildings, that kind of thing. It's been solid honestly, no major complaints except the range is kinda whatever indoors because of interference but thats just how it is.

Anyway my buddy keeps telling me the Avata 2 is a massive upgrade but I honestly cant tell from the spec sheets whether that matters for what I do. Like the image quality bump I get, that makes sense. But is the flight feel actually different? I feel like the original already handles pretty well in acro mode once you dial in the sensitivity. The obstacle avoidance on the 2 is whatever to me because i turn that off anyway in tight spaces.

Anyone switched over who can give me an actual real world take on this, not just the DJI marketing stuff

Switched from OG Avata to Avata 2 back in the spring and for indoor use honestly the biggest difference I noticed was the low light performance on the camera, which is either a big deal or completely irrelevant depending on your lighting situation. If youre shooting in dark warehouses then yeah it matters a lot. The flight controller feel is a bit different, slightly more responsive I'd say but its not night and day if you already have good muscle memory on the original.

The goggles situation is where it gets complicated though. You're basically buying into a new ecosystem with the RC Motion 3 and Goggles 3 if you want the full setup, and that adds up fast. If you already have decent goggles from another setup it's worth thinking about whether you actually need the whole bundle or just the drone.

tbh i wouldnt bother if the original is working fine for what you do. the avata 2 is nicer but its not like the first one became garbage overnight. save the money for a different build maybe
