ok so i finally upgraded from my old mini to something with a proper 3-axis gimbal and im already second guessing myself. been flying for about 3 hours total on the new bird and i keep noticing the horizon creeping slightly to the left during longer shots, like its not dramatic but if youre watching a 20 second clip you can see it. recalibrated twice already following the manual steps.

the thing is it only seems to happen when im hovering in place, if im actually moving forward it looks fine. also noticed it more when its windy but today was pretty calm and it still did it. is this a gimbal calibration thing or could it be something with how i set it up initially, i dont really know what im looking for in the imu calibration honestly

yeah this is pretty common when you first get a new unit honestly. the gimbal needs a flat surface calibration, not just the auto cal. what most people skip is doing the imu cal on a completely level surface before they ever fly, and if the craft itself is reading even slightly off it translates to that slow roll you're describing. try doing a full imu cal on something you know is level like a table with a spirit level on it, then do the gimbal cal after. the hover drift is almost always this, the gimbal is trying to compensate for what the imu is telling it and if those two are out of sync even a tiny bit you get exactly what you're describing.

the wind thing is separate, under load the motors fight harder and it can mask minor calibration issues which is why it looks better when moving, the whole system is working harder and correcting more aggressively.

had the same thing on mine for weeks before i figured out i was calibrating on my car hood lol. not exactly level. do what the other guy said but also check if there's a firmware update, mine had a gimbal stabilization patch that actually helped a lot with the slow drift thing
