updated to the latest firmware last week and now my obstacle avoidance is behaving completely differently. not like its off, more like its way too aggressive? it stops like 4 meters away from stuff that it used to get much closer to with no issue. i fly a lot in tighter spaces for architectural work and this is actually a problem now.

ive been through the DJI Fly settings like three times and everything looks the same as before, sensitivity is set the same, mode hasnt changed. did a calibration on the vision sensors too just to see if that would do anything and it didnt really change the behavior.

not sure if this is a software thing DJI pushed intentionally or if something went wrong on my end. havent found anything in the patch notes that mentions it but those are never that detailed anyway. anyone running the same firmware version having this or is my unit just being weird

yeah the patch notes from DJI are basically useless, they never say anything specific. i saw a couple people on the DJI forums mention similar stuff after that update but i dont fly in tight spaces so i didnt pay much attention to it. might be worth checking if theres a way to roll back, i think some people have done that through DJI Assistant 2 on desktop but i havent tried it myself so cant say for sure how that process works.

also just throwing it out there ? did you check if the APAS mode setting changed? i know sometimes updates reset certain things that you wouldnt expect to get touched.

this has been a recurring thing with DJI updates honestly. they tweak obstacle avoidance behavior and dont really tell anyone. i remeber the same kind of complaints after an update on the Air 2S a couple years back, people were frustrated for weeks before someone figured out it was intentional and there was no toggle to get the old behavior back.

if youre doing architecture work and need to get closer to structures you might just have to fly in SPORT mode for those shots which obviously disables avoidance entirely. its not ideal but its kind of the workaround people use when the avoidance gets in the way. just means you have to be more heads-up about what youre doing.
