Mini 3 Pro vs Mini 4 Pro ? is the upgrade actually worth it

  • Members

So ive been flying my Mini 3 Pro for about a year now and honestly love it, but keep seeing people talk about the Mini 4 Pro like its a massive leap forward. My main use is just weekend hiking trips, occasional beach stuff, nothing commercial. I dont really need omnidirectional obstacle avoidance because i mostly fly in open areas anyway.

The thing thats tempting me is the ActiveTrack on the 4 Pro because my girlfriend keeps asking me to film her on trail runs but honestly trying to manually track someone running through trees is just a nightmare. Other than that though im not sure i see a huge reason to drop another $750+ when my 3 Pro is working perfectly fine.

Anyone actually made this switch? Was it worth it or do you kind of regret spending the money

Made that exact switch about 6 months ago and honestly... its a bit mixed. The ActiveTrack is genuinely better, like noticeably so, especially in situations where theres some terrain variation. But for open hiking trails your Mini 3 Pro would probably do fine with a bit of practice on the manual tracking.

The thing nobody talks about enough is the battery life difference is pretty marginal in real conditions. DJI says 34 mins on the 4 Pro but once you factor in wind and actually flying somewhere interesting youre looking at similar numbers to your 3 Pro. I dont regret it but if I was being honest with myself I probably couldve kept my old one for another year at least.
