ok so i picked up a DJI Mini 2 last week because i kept seeing cool shots on youtube and figured id give it a shot. ive never flown anything like this before, not even like a toy RC thing as a kid. i watched a few videos but honestly there is so much conflicting info out there i dont even know what to trust.

my main thing right now is i dont fully understand the different flight modes. like i get that sport mode is faster but people keep saying to stay out of it as a beginner which, fine, but then whats the difference between normal and cine mode in actual practice? when i fly in normal it feels a little twitchy to me but maybe thats just me being bad at it

also do i really need to do the whole compass calibration thing every single time i go out or just the first time? the app keeps nudging me to do it and i cant tell if thats important or just them being overly cautious

the cine vs normal thing actually took me a while to feel too. cine just slows down how fast the drone responds to your inputs, so when you push the stick it kind of eases into the movement instead of snapping to it. for getting smooth footage its way better but you feel like youre flying through mud at first. normal is snappier which is why it feels twitchy ? your thumbs are probably still overcorrecting a lot, which is super normal for week one. just fly in normal and let your hands learn to be gentler, cine will make more sense later when you actually want smooth shots.

on the compass thing ? you dont need to do it every flight. usually just if youre in a significantly different location than last time, or if the app is throwing a compass error warning. if it just says recommended and theres no actual error i usually skip it honestly.

im pretty new too so take this with a grain of salt but i found just flying in an open field with no pressure helped a lot more than watching videos. like you can read about it forever but your thumbs just have to figure it out on their own kinda thing. i crashed mine twice in the first three days and now im way more confident so dont stress about being perfect right away
