so ive been dealing with this for about three weeks now and its driving me insane. im flying my mavic 3 and it just randomly drops RC link, sometimes at 80m sometimes at like 400m, theres no pattern i can figure out. it reconnects usually within 5-10 seconds but twice now ive had it go into RTH which is fine i guess but i shouldnt be triggering RTH at 300 meters in an open field.

ive already tried switching from auto to 2.4ghz only because i read somewhere that 5.8 can have issues in certain environments but it didnt really change anything. checked the antennas on the controller, theyre not bent or anything obvious. i fly near a pretty suburban area but its not like im under powerlines or anything. firmware is up to date as of last week.

anyone dealt with something like this? at this point im wondering if theres interference from something nearby i cant even see or if theres a hardware issue starting.

what orientation are you holding the controller? this sounds dumb but a lot of people dont realize the antennas on the RC-N1 need to be perpendicular to the aircraft, not pointing at it. if you tilt them flat toward the drone youre basically pointing the null zone right at it. ive seen this cause exactly what you're describing ? random drops that feel totally unpredictable because they depend on which way you and the drone are facing relative to each other.

also worth checking if there's a wifi router or 2.4ghz baby monitor or something like that in the direction you're flying. suburban environments are brutal for RF, theres so much garbage in those bands now. if you have access to something like WiFi Analyzer on android you can get a rough idea of how congested the spectrum is at your flying spot before you launch.

had almost the exact same thing happen with my mini 3, turned out one of the antenna connectors inside the controller had a cold solder joint or something, dji replaced it under warranty. if its still in warranty period id just open a ticket tbh especially if you cant reproduce it consistently bc thats almost impossible to diagnose yourself
