DJI FPV vs Avata ? which one actually makes sense for someone coming from cinematics

  • Members

so ive been flying a Mavic 3 for about two years doing mostly real estate and some travel stuff and ive been wanting to get into FPV for a while now. the problem is i keep going back and forth between the original DJI FPV and the Avata and i cant quite figure out which direction to go.

the original FPV drone feels more capable in some ways, like it can actually go fast and the fixed camera angle at 0 degrees is more usable for cinematic work i think. but everyone keeps talking about the Avata like its the smarter buy right now even though its smaller. the motion controller thing on the Avata looks genuinely fun but i dont know if ill actually use it long term vs just switching to the goggles 2 with a regular controller.

anyone made this transition from normal cinematic work to FPV and have thoughts? mainly care about footage quality and not crashing everything immediately

came from the exact same background and went with the Avata about 8 months ago. honestly the learning curve is real regardless of which one you pick but the Avata in normal mode is way more forgiving than the OG FPV drone. the OG FPV in sport mode is genuinely fast and sketchy if youre not used to manual-ish flying. the avata image quality is good but not amazing, the 4k is a bit soft compared to what youre used to on the mavic 3 ? just be ready for that. that said for indoor stuff, tight spaces, through doorways, the avata just makes sense. the motion controller is a gimmick for about a week and then you either ditch it or get weirdly good at it
