so this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a me problem or a drone problem. flying my EVO II Pro and every once in a while it just drops to atti mode out of nowhere. not every flight, maybe one in five or six. it usually comes back after like 20-30 seconds but thats not exactly comforting when youre 200 feet up.

i checked and theres no obvious interference around where im flying, its mostly open fields. firmware is up to date i think, i updated it a couple months ago. starting to wonder if theres something wrong with the GPS module itself or if i need to do some kind of compass calibration more often. i do it whenever it prompts me but maybe i should be doing it more?

running the smart controller if that matters

compass calibration was my first thought too. i got into the habit of doing it anytime i drive more than like 30-40 miles to a new spot and it made a big difference for me. also worth checking if youre near any power lines or if theres a lot of rebar in concrete nearby, that stuff can mess with the compass even if the area looks open.

the other thing i'd look at is the IMU calibration, not just compass. people forget about the IMU but if it drifts even a little it can cause weird behavior. there should be an option in the Autel Sky app under general settings or somewhere close to that. might be worth doing a fresh calibration of both on a flat surface and see if that clears it up before assuming hardware issue

ive seen a few people mention this with the EVO II series on the Autel facebook group, might be worth posting there if you havent. their support is actually pretty decent compared to what people expect, i had a different issue and they walked me thorugh it over email without too much runaround. could be a batch issue with some units tbh
