so we've been running an Agras T40 for the past season and while its an incredible machine the maintenance costs and the DJI ecosystem lock-in is starting to get to us. the nozzle replacements alone are killing the budget and we had one RTK module go out mid-season which was a nightmare to get sorted through their support.

been looking at the XAG P100 as a potential swap or even just adding one as a second unit. anyone have real field experience with these? not looking for spec sheet comparisons, i can read those myself. want to know how they actually hold up in 35+ degree heat doing back to back missions over corn and soy.

our operation is about 800 acres spread across a few different fields so we're not massive but also not small enough that downtime doesn't hurt. RTK accuracy and tank consistency are the two things i care about most honestly.

ran an XAG P40 for almost two seasons before we moved up. the heat thing is actually where it surprised me ? had some throttling issues when ambient temps were high and we were doing long continuous runs but nothing that grounded us. the flow rate consistency was pretty solid once we got the nozzle calibration dialed in, took us maybe a week of field time to really trust it.

the ecosystem is less polished than DJI for sure, the mission planning software has some quirks that'll annoy you at first. but once youre used to it and you realize parts are like a third of the price and you can actually get them, it starts to feel worth it. RTK performance was comparable in our fields, though we run our own base station so i cant speak to how it behaves leaning on network RTK.

dont know about XAG specifically but i went through something similar deciding between platforms last year and the thing nobody tells you is the after-sales support situation is wildly different depending on where you are geographically. like the dealer network matters as much as the actual drone at this point. whats your coverage like where youre based?
