so ive been studying for like 6 weeks now and i feel okay about most of it but the airspace stuff is still tripping me up. like i get the basic class B C D E stuff but when you get into the sectional chart reading and trying to figure out what the little numbers mean around the airports i just blank out. i ordered the sheppard air prep thing and did maybe 200 practice questions but some of the questions on there feel totally different from what people say the real test is like.

anyone taken it recently? is it actually as hard as people make it out to be or am i overthinking this. also not sure if i should be spending more time on weather stuff or the airspace, feels like i cant get good at both before next thursday

took mine about 4 months ago and honestly the airspace stuff was like maybe 25-30% of what i saw, the weather questions caught me more off guard than anything. make sure you actually understand METARs and TAFs not just memorize them because they word the questions weird. the sectional stuff isnt as bad as it looks once you realize most of the questions are just about reading the legend, theyll basically tell you what you need in the question itself half the time.

sheppard air is fine but i thought the FAA practice tests that are free online were more representative of the actual tone of the questions. also dont stress too much about the obscure radio frequency stuff, theres like maybe one or two questions on that usually.

i was in the exact same spot lol. ended up passing with an 85 and i was sure i failed walking out. the test felt weird because some questions i knew cold and then some came out of nowhere that i dont even remember seeing in any study material. just make sure you know what to do when ATC tells you something and you cant comply, and the whole remote PIC responsibility stuff. they love asking about that
