good nd filters for mini 2 se worth it or no

  • Members

okay so i got the mini 2 se back in december as kind of a starter drone before committing to something more expensive and honestly i love it way more than i expected. im starting to get more into the video side of things and ive been watching a lot of youtube stuff about the 180 degree shutter rule and apparently i need nd filters to actually pull that off properly. my question is are the cheap sets on amazon like polarpro alternatives or whatever worth buying for a beginner or should i just get the real polarpro ones. theyre not cheap and the drone itself wasnt that expensive so feels weird spending almost as much on filters. also does the mini 2 se even have the same lens as the regular mini 2 because i cant find a straight answer on that

honestly for a mini 2 se the cheap sets are probably fine to start with. like you said the drone isnt a high end cinema machine so throwing 80 dollars of polarpros on it is a bit much imo. i used a freewell set for ages on my mini 2 and they were totally usable, sharpness was fine for social media stuff. if you ever upgrade to a mini 4 pro or something then yeah maybe invest in better glass but for learning the concept of nd filters the cheap ones do the job. and yeah the 2 se has basically the same sensor and lens setup as the regular mini 2 from what i remember reading

the 180 rule thing is real and makes a noticeable difference especially in bright conditions but i'll be honest with you, on the mini 2 se the footage differences are kind of subtle compared to a higher bitrate drone. still worth learning the concept though. one thing i'd add is make sure whatever filters you buy are specifically listed for the mini 2 se and not just mini 2, the mounts are the same i believe but ive seen some people get burned ordering the wrong ones. check the product listing carefuly before buying
