ok so ive been going back and forth on this for like two months now and i cant make up my mind. i want to get into fpv but coming from shooting real estate with a mini 3 pro so i dont really have a background in freestyle or anything like that. the avata seems way more beginner friendly obviously but then i keep reading that the FPV drone is just more capable overall and has way better image quality for cinematic stuff.

my main use case is travel and maybe some light action shots at the skatepark my friend runs. not doing anything crazy but i do want footage that actually looks good. budget isnt really the issue, more just dont want to buy the wrong thing and end up frustrated. anyone been in a similar spot?

went through basically the exact same thing last year. ended up with the Avata and honestly for what you're describing it makes total sense. the motion controller learning curve is real but once it clicks it clicks. the stabilization in horizon steady mode is kinda insane for handheld style shots and you wont spend half your time rebuilding it after a crash like you would with the FPV drone.

the FPV is faster and the image is better no question but it's also way less forgiving. if youre not already comfortable with manual mode or at least acro basics it can get expensive real fast. avata 2 also just dropped and the image quality bump is noticeable over the original.

tbh the skatepark use case is where they really diverge. FPV drone in sport mode can follow a skater through a line in a way the avata just cant match speed-wise but then again crashing a $1300 drone at a skatepark sounds like a nightmare. depends how confident you are i guess
