EVO II keeps losing signal randomly, no idea whats going on

so this has been bugging me for a while and its getting kind of frustrating. mid flight the controller just drops signal for a few seconds, drone goes into hover and then comes back. happens maybe once or twice per flight, not every flight but enough that im nervous about flying anywhere near trees or over water.

i updated the firmware a couple months ago and it seemed fine for a bit but now its doing it again. i dont think its interference because ive had it happen in pretty open areas with nothing around. the signal bars on the sky app drop right down and then pop back up. im flying the EVO II Pro if that matters, using the standard controller that came with it.

anyone else had this? im not sure if its the controller, the drone itself, or just something weird with the app

check if your phone is switching wifi networks or doing something in the background during the flight. i had a similar thing and it turned out my phone was trying to connect to a neighbors network and it was causing the skylink connection to hiccup. putting the phone in airplane mode and then turning on only bluetooth fixed it for me. sounds dumb but worth trying before you dig into anything else.

had the exact same issue on my EVO II about a year ago, drove me crazy. ended up being the USB cable between the controller and the phone was slightly loose, like the connection was intermittent when the cable shifted around during flight. swapped it for a proper short right-angle cable and never had the problem again. might not be your issue but its an easy thing to rule out and people overlook it all the time with Autel setups since the cabling situation on that controller isnt great out of the box
