thinking about getting into FPV, is DJI O3 stuff worth it or just go Walksnail

so ive been flying whoops for like 8 months now on analog and im starting to think about moving up to a proper 5 inch build or just buying something prebuilt. my buddy keeps telling me to just get an Iflight Nazgul or something similar and not bother building from scratch but i kind of want to do the build myself just to learn how everything works together

anyway the video system question is really where im stuck. i was leaning DJI O3 because the image quality is just insane compared to analog but then someone at my local track said Walksnail Avatar HD is basically just as good now and the latency has gotten way better with recent firmware. is that actually true or is he just a Caddx fanboy lol

also if anyone has opinions on Iflight vs Diatone vs building from scratch with like an F7 stack id love to hear it, im not super scared of soldering, ive already replaced a few motors on my tinywhoop stuff

walksnail has genuinely closed the gap a lot, i was skeptical too but after running the Avatar system on my 5inch for a few months i dont really miss O3 that much. latency is fine for anything except like serious racing and even then its not terrible. the main thing DJI still has going for it is the goggle ecosystem if you already own DJI goggles, switching costs are real

on the prebuilt vs build question honestly if you can solder and youre willing to spend a weekend on it, building teaches you so much about how to actually fix stuff when it inevitably breaks. Iflight prebuilts are solid dont get me wrong but youll be googling your own quad's pinout when something dies mid flight and thats annoying

diatone gets slept on so much its kind of frustrating. ive had a Diatone Roma F5 for over a year and the thing just does not die. had an Iflight before that and the ESC gave up after like 3 months which might have been my fault but still. not saying Iflight is bad just that diatone builds are really solid and their frames are usually a bit lighter for the same class
