mini 4 pro keeps drifting when i let go of the sticks ? is this normal??

  • Members

so i got my mini 4 pro about three weeks ago and ive been noticing that when i hover and release the sticks it just kind of slowly drifts in whatever direction the wind is going, sometimes it drifts even when theres barely any wind. i thought these things were supposed to just hang in place. ive calibrated the IMU and compass twice now and it still does it. GPS lock looks fine, usually 12+ satellites. not sure if this is a settings thing or if somethings actually wrong with my unit. its not like crashing into things but its enough that i cant get a clean hover shot without constantly correcting. anyone else had this or know what im doing at wrong

yeah totally normal up to a point, wind will always move it around a bit and the mini series is pretty light so its more susceptible than something like a mavic 3. that said if its drifting noticeably

yeah totally normal up to a point, wind will always move it around a bit and the mini series is pretty light so its more susceptible than something like a mavic 3. that said if its drifting noticeably in calm conditions you might want to check your sport mode isnt accidentally on, or that youre not in atti mode for some reason. also where are you calibrating? near any metal structures or powerlines can mess with compass cal and then it just never quite settles right. id try a fresh cal out in the middle of a field away from everything and see if it changes anything.

i had the same thing with my mini 3 and it drove me insane for like two weeks. turned out i had the return to home altitude set really low and something in the settings was weird but honestly i dont remember exactly what fixed it. i just did a full factory reset through the dji fly app and then recalibrated everything from scratch and it got way better. probably not the most helpful answer but sometimes just starting fresh does something
