so ive been using litchi for probably 3 years now and it does what i need but i keep hearing people talk about dronelink and im curious if anyone has actually made the switch and whether its worth the learning curve. my main use case is mapping survey grids and the occasional orbit shot for real estate stuff.

the thing that bugs me about litchi is the interface feels kinda dated and the way it handles altitude modes has always confused me a little ? like do i want AGL or absolute and it doesnt make it super obvious which one youre working in at any given moment. also had a couple missions where it just... didnt load properly on site and i had to rebuild from scratch on my phone which sucked.

not really looking to spend a ton more money if dronelink is subscription based but if its genuinely better for the planning side of things id consider it. flying a mini 3 pro mostly these days if that matters.

switched from litchi to dronelink about 8 months ago and honestly the altitude mode stuff you mentioned is way clearer in dronelink, it shows you a side profile view of the whole mission so you can actually see if your waypoints are going to clip a treeline or whatever. took me maybe a week to feel comfortable with the interface but now i wouldnt go back.

the subscription thing is real though, think its like 10 bucks a month or you can do an annual thing. for professional use its a no brainer but if youre just doing it casually i get the hesitation. mini 3 pro support has been solid for me, no weird disconnects or anything like what you described with litchi.

i still use litchi lol, works fine for me but i mostly do follow me shots and simple orbits so maybe im not pushing it hard enough to notice the issues youre talking about. the AGL vs absolute thing has definitely bit me before though, flew a mission in hilly terrain and one waypoint ended up way lower than expected because i didnt realize it was set to absolute. nothing bad happened but it was closer to the ground than i wanted.
