so ive had the Mavic 3 Classic sitting in its case for like two months because work has been insane and i kept telling myself ill go out this weekend, ill go out this weekend. finally just threw it in the car last saturday and drove out to this reservoir about 40 minutes from me that i'd been scoping on google maps for a while.

the light was perfect, golden hour just starting when i got there, and honestly i wasnt even planning to get serious footage i just wanted to fly. ended up staying almost two hours. the Hasselblad camera on this thing in that light... i dont even know what to say. i've flown a Mini 2 for about a year before upgrading and the difference is just not comparable.

one thing i'll say is the obstacle avoidance actually saved me at one point because i got distracted watching the screen and drifted toward some trees on the far bank. felt it brake and just hover there. still gives me a mini heart attack every time but glad it works. anyway just wanted to share because ive been lurking here a while and you guys kind of pushed me toward the upgrade so thank you for that i guess

that reservoir sounds amazing, do you mind sharing which one? always looking for new spots around that kind of terrain. and yeah the obstacle avoidance on the Mavic 3 line is genuinely good, not perfect obviously but way more reliable than i expected. i had a similar moment near some power lines last fall and it just stopped dead. took about five years off my life but the drone was fine lol

also golden hour with the Hasselblad is basically cheating. everything looks incredible. glad you finally got out there, those "ill do it next weekend" spirals are real and the longer you wait the worse it gets somehow

the jump from Mini 2 to Mavic 3 is massive, people kind of undersell it because they're both DJI but they're really not even playing the same game in terms of image quality and wind handling. 40mph gusts don't even phase the 3.
