failed part 107 once already, is the second attempt usually easier or harder

so yeah. failed it. scored a 68 which i know isnt terrible but still, really frustrating. i had studied but honestly i think i underestimated how specific some of the questions were. like i knew the concepts but the way they phrased things threw me off on a bunch of them. have to wait 14 days before i can retake and im already trying to figure out what to do differently this time.

the airspace and weather interpretation stuff i got wrong a lot i think based on which topics i flagged while taking it. not sure if the second attempt is literally the same question bank or totally different questions or what. anyone done it twice

its the same question bank so you might see some of the same questions but not necessarily all of them, the test pulls from a pool so its kind of random. the thing i'd focus on is really drilling down on the specific areas you missed, the testing center should have given you a breakdown by topic area on your score report right? use that. dont just restudy everything equally or youll waste the 14 days. get really surgical about the weak spots.

also the way they word questions is genuinely a skill you have to learn separate from knowing the actual material. a lot of people fail not because they dont know the stuff but because they overthink the answers or misread what the question is actually asking. slow down on the ones that seem tricky, usually theres one answer that looks right but isnt quite right for the specific scenario they described

i failed mine the first time too, got a 71. second time i passed with an 83. honestly the biggest difference for me was using Pilot Institute, their course is pretty cheap and the practice exams felt way closer to the real test than prepware did in my opinion. the explanations they give for why wrong answers are wrong is where i actually learned the material instead of just memorizing answers. took me about 3 weeks of studying before my retake and felt way more confident going in
