so i finally booked the trip ive been planning for like two years and im bringing the mini 3 pro. ive done some reading about Icelandic airspace rules but honestly its a bit confusing with the EU drone regs and whether Iceland fully follows them or has its own stuff on top. i know i need to register somewhere but cant figure out if my existing EU operator ID works there or if i need to do it again through their CAA.

also just general tips welcome, been to Iceland before but never with a drone. the wind there is no joke from what i remember

Iceland follows EASA regs pretty closely but you do need to register with Samg?ngustofa which is their transport authority. your EU operator ID doesnt automatically carry over unfortunately. took me like 20 mins online though so not a big deal. the wind thing is real, i got caught out near Skogafoss and nearly lost it, was showing like 8m/s on the ground and probably double that once it got up above the ridge. just watch the forecasts obsessively and be ready to abort

no experience with Iceland specifically but i traveled through Norway and Denmark last year with mine and the registration stuff was always the annoying part. just do it a few days before you land so you have time if something goes wrong with the process. also check if any of the spots you want to shoot are inside national park boundaries, some of them have total bans regardless of your category
