Air 3 vs Air 3S ? is the upgrade actually worth it for casual weekend flying

  • Members

so ive had my Air 3 for about a year now and honestly love it, no real complaints. but my buddy just picked up an Air 3S and was showing me the low light footage side by side and im not gonna lie it looked noticeably better. like not just a little, actually quite a bit better in that golden hour stuff where the shadows start getting noisy.

problem is i dont really shoot professionally or anything, mostly fly on weekends at the coast or out hiking with friends. the footage i get now is already way better than anything i could get with my old Mavic Mini so its hard to justify spending another grand. but also that sensor upgrade is tempting me way more than it probably should be lol

anyone here actually made that jump? was it worth it or did the novelty wear off pretty quick

honestly i made the same jump and i think it depends a lot on what you do with the footage after. if youre just posting to instagram or sharing with friends on your phone, youre probably not going to

honestly i made the same jump and i think it depends a lot on what you do with the footage after. if youre just posting to instagram or sharing with friends on your phone, youre probably not going to notice much difference once its compressed. but if you actually sit down and edit and you shoot in dlog or anything like that, the Air 3S files have a lot more room to work with before things fall apart. the highlight rolloff especially is way better.

that said if your Air 3 is working fine and youre happy with it, theres no real urgency. wait til a good deal shows up maybe. i got mine refurbished and saved a decent chunk
