my Air 2S keeps losing signal way sooner than it should ? maybe a settings thing?

this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to post about it. so im flying my Air 2S and i keep getting the signal warning and return to home kicking in way earlier than what other people seem to experience. like im not even that far out, maybe 800 meters or so, and it starts freaking out. i know the specs say way more range than that.

im in a pretty open area when this happens too, not flying near a bunch of buildings or anything. i checked and im on occusync so thats not the issue. someone mentioned somehting about the FCC vs CE mode thing and i think that might be what im dealing with but im not totally sure how to check or change it. running latest firmware i think, havent updated in a few months so maybe not actually

any ideas before i send it in somewhere

yeah almost certainly the FCC vs CE thing. CE mode limits your transmission power significantly which tanks your range, FCC is what you want if youre in the US. theres a way to switch it in the DJI Fly app under the remote controller settings but it can be a bit buried depending on what version youre on. worth looking up a quick video just to make sure you're in the right menu because ive seen people toggle the wrong thing and wonder why nothing changed.

also update your firmware for real, there were some fixes a while back that helped with connection stability on the Air 2S. both the drone and the controller need to match

could also just be interference depending on where you are. i had similar issues near a park that apparently had a bunch of wifi equipment nearby and it was killing my range. moved like half a mile down the road and it was completely fine. not saying thats your issue but worth ruling out
