thinking about getting a prebuilt 5inch, is the iflight nazgul worth it still or has something better come along

so ive been building my own quads for like 4 years now and honestly im just tired of the whole process. spending a whole weekend soldering and then something doesnt work and you spend another 3 hours debugging a esc or whatever. my buddy just picked up a prebuilt and is flying circles around me at the field while im still on the bench with a multimeter lol

anyway looking at the nazgul evoque f5 mainly because i know iflight and their stuff is usually decent out of the box. but i havent really kept up with the prebuilt market for a while and im wondering if theres something that flies better or needs less tuning right out of the box. budget is maybe 250-300 for the quad itself, ill do my own rx and vtx situation. flying mostly freestyle, some light cruising, not racing

also does anyone know if the betaflight tune that comes on these is actually usable or do you immediately have to reflash and start from scratch

the evoque is fine but honestly the stock tune is pretty mushy, i picked one up maybe 8 months ago and the first thing i did was flash a fresh betaflight and start from scratch with the filters. took like an hour and it flew way better. the hardware itself is solid though, the frame holds up and the motors are decent for the price point.

if you want something that flies well basically out of the box i actually had a better experience with the dji o3 version of the geprc mark5 but thats significantly more money. for analog in your budget range the nazgul is probably still the go-to unless you can find a used one from someone who already dialed the tune in which is honestly the dream scenario

I went through this exact thing last year, was building everything myself and just hit a wall with motivation. Got the Nazgul Evoque and yeah the stock tune left something to be desired but it wasn't totally unrideable either. What I did was grab a tune from the RCGroups thread someone posted for that exact frame and motors combo and it was night and day difference, took maybe 20 minutes to apply. If you go that route just make sure you match your exact motor spec because there are a couple variants floating around and the tune matters for which kv you have.
