our local club group flight last weekend was kind of a mess

ok so we finally got enough people together for a group fly at the park and it started out great but then things got a bit chaotic. we had maybe 8 or 9 pilots all in the air at the same time and nobody really talked about who was flying where beforehand. two guys nearly had a mid air near the tree line and one dude just kept flying through everyones shots without realizing it. i know its not a huge deal but i feel like we need some kind of basic coordination next time? like even just splitting the airspace informally. does anyone elses club do anything like that or do you just kind of figure it out on the fly (pun intended i guess)

yeah this is pretty common when groups get bigger than like 4-5 people. what we do is basically designate altitide bands before we start, low guys stay under 50ft, higher stuff above that. not perfect but it cuts down on the chaos a lot. also helps to have one person just sort of calling out what theyre doing on a group chat or just verbally if everyone is close enough
