so DJI dropped some info about their next lineup and im honestly not sure how to feel about it. the specs look decent on paper but every time they release something new theres always some weird limitation baked in that wasnt in the press release, you know? like the geofencing stuff they quietly added a while back that nobody caught until people were already in the field.

also the new FAA remote ID rules are still confusing a lot of people i talk to at my local club. had a guy last week who had no idea he needed to have it enabled and he'd been flying for like two years. i think the communication around all this regulatory stuff has just been really poor from everyone involved, not just the manufacturers.

anyway curious what people here think about where the industry is heading, feels like every six months theres some new rule or piece of gear that makes you feel like youre starting over

yeah the remote ID thing is still catching people off guard and honestly I get it, the rollout was a mess. FAA put out guidance but if you're not actively following drone news you'd have no idea. my buddy flies a Mavic Air 2 and had zero clue until I mentioned it at a cookout last summer.

as for DJI I've kind of stopped getting excited about announcements until the thing is actually shipping and people have had it in their hands for a month. too many times i've preordered based on specs and then the real world performance is just... fine. not bad but not what the hype suggested either.

wait so do I need to do something to my drone to be compliant with remote ID or is it automatic? i have a mini 3 and i thought it was already set up but now im second guessing myself after reading this thread lol
