Avata 2 won't connect to DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 - firmware issues?

Just got my Avata 2 and trying to pair it with my existing FPV Remote Controller 2 from my DJI FPV drone. The controller firmware appears to be outdated and incompatible with the newer Avata 2. I've updated everything via DJI Assistant 2 but still getting continuous beeping during link attempts with no successful connection. I need to link the drone with goggles first, then the controller.

Has anyone successfully resolved this pairing issue? Should I be using DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Series) or the FPV Series version for firmware updates?

    2. Tap Permissions ? Notifications.
    3. Adjust your preference.
