keeps drifting when i let go of the sticks??

so this has been bugging me for a while and i cant figure out if its a me problem or a drone problem. when i hover and let go of everything it kind of slowly drifts off, like not a lot but enough that i have to keep correcting it. i thought these things were supposed to just stay in one place when you let go. mine is a holy stone hs720 if that matters. ive only had it maybe 3 weeks

is this normal or did i mess something up. i did try flying it in my garage once when it was raining outside, not sure if that did anything

yeah that drone relies on GPS to hold position and also has optical flow on the bottom for lower altitudes. if youre flying somewhere with weak GPS lock or indoors where it cant get a signal at all it'll drift, that's just how it works. outside with a clear sky and good satellite lock it should hold pretty steady. the garage thing was probably messing with it, GPS doesnt work inside and optical flow needs decent lighting and a textured surface to work properly.

also worth doing a compass calibration if you havent, sometimes that helps with drift issues. should be in the app somewhere, just spin it around a few times when it asks you to.

honestly some drift is just normal with that class of drone, they're not going to hold position like a mavic or anything. little bit of wind and it'll move around. i had an hs series one a few years back and same thing, you kind of just learn to live with it and keep your hands close to the sticks. if it's drifting a lot indoors thats expected though
