anyone else have a workflow for delivering footage to clients that doesnt involve wetransfer eating your soul

ok this is kind of a boring topic but it keeps tripping me up. right now i finish an edit, export everything, upload to wetransfer, send the link, client downloads it three weeks later or never, link expires, they message me asking where the files are. repeat forever.

ive been thinking about setting up something more professional looking, maybe a client portal of some kind. ive seen some photographers using pixieset which looks clean but im not sure if it works well for video or if theres something more suited to what we do. frame.io came up in another thread i was reading but i think that might be overkill for my volume, i do maybe 8-10 jobs a month.

also partially wondering if the delivery method affects how clients perceive the value of your work? like does getting a nice branded portal link feel different than a wetransfer notification. probably overthinking it but curious what setups other people actually use day to day

frame.io is not overkill at all for what you're describing, i use it for way fewer jobs than that and it honestly changed how my clients interact with feedback. the comment-on-timeline feature alone saved me probably a dozen back and forth emails on one job where the client kept saying things like "that bit near the end" without specifying anything. they can just click on the frame and leave a note. plus the client facing side looks really clean and professional without me having to do much.

the wetransfer expiry problem is real and clients absolutely blame you for it even when its their fault for waiting. i keep a google drive folder as a backup archive for everything i deliver now just in case someone comes back 6 months later claiming they lost the files.

i just use google drive with a shared folder structure and havent had any complaints but i shoot mostly for small local businesses who probably wouldnt notice a fancy portal anyway. the pixieset thing sounds interesting tho if youre working with real estate or anyone who cares about presentation
