my workflow for delivering real estate drone footage has gotten pretty dialed in, sharing in case its useful

been doing real estate work for about 18 months now and went through a lot of trial and error getting my delivery process sorted so figured id share what works for me in case anyone is just starting out with this stuff

so i shoot everything in D-Log or whatever flat profile my bird supports, even for basic real estate stuff, because i got burned early on delivering footage with baked-in color that the agent then complained looked 'too dramatic' or whatever. now i do a light grade in resolve, nothing crazy, just pull it into a natural looking rec709 profile and export two versions ? one edited short one for social (vertical crop for instagram stories) and one full horizontal edit for the listing or website.

for delivery i switched to frame.io a while back and honestly it changed things a lot. clients can comment directly on the timeline, they can download their files without me sending huge google drive links that expire or whatever. most agents i work with are not super technical so the simpler the better on their end.

i also started sending a short 'what to expect' email after booking that outlines turnaround time, what weather can affect scheduling, and how the review process works. cut my back-and-forth emails down by a lot. anyway hope some of this is useful, happy to answer questions if anyone's curious about any part of it

the 'what to expect' email is such a good idea, im stealing that. i spend so much time answering the same questions from every new client, weather holds especially. do you send it as like a plain email or do you have it formatted up nice with your branding and stuff?

solid workflow. one thing i'd add for anyone reading this ? if you're doing high volume real estate, look into having a contract that specifically addresses reschedule fees for weather cancellations. took me way too long to figure that out. had a stretch last spring where i was rescheduling the same job three times and eating the cost of multiple site visits essentially. now i build in one free reschedule and after that there's a small fee, nobody's complained yet and it makes clients take the scheduling more seriously too
