ok so i finally went to one of those local drone meetups everyone talks about and honestly i didnt know what to expect. theres this guy who runs it every month and he kind of acts like the unofficial mayor of the whole thing, tells everyone where to stand and which direction to fly so nobody crashes into each other. at first i thought it was annoying but it actually made sense once like 6 or 7 people were in the air at once. my mavic almost got way too close to some dudes long range fixed wing and that was a whole thing. anyway it was fun but also kind of stressful in a way i wasnt anticipating, like i fly solo all the time and this was just a completely different vibe. probably go back though

the unofficial mayor guy exists at every single meetup ive ever been to lmao. sometimes its helpful sometimes its not. sounds like yours was on the useful end at least

this is actually why i havent gone to any of these yet, i get nervous flying around other people. solo is way more relaxing for me. but i keep hearing they're worth it for meeting people who actually know stuff, like i have so many questions that forums dont fully answer and sometimes you just need someone to show you in person
