this is kind of frustrating and i'm not even sure what happened exactly. was flying out near this open area, checked b4ufly before i went, showed green, had my part 107 on me, whole thing. some guy came up to me ? didn't seem like law enforcement, just a regular person ? and told me i was flying in restricted airspace and that i needed to land. i landed because i didn't want a confrontation but now i'm second guessing everything. the area was near some kind of federal land i think, maybe a national forest or something adjacent to it. is there some kind of airspace restriction that wouldn't show up on the normal apps? i feel like i did everything right but now i'm not confident. could the apps just be missing something?

honestly random people saying that to you doesn't mean anything legally. like unless they were actual law enforcement or an FAA person they have zero authority to tell you to land. that said you're right to double check because there are some restrictions that are easy to miss ? temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) can pop up without much warning and the apps dont always update instantly. also some national forest areas have their own rules that arent strictly airspace-based, more like the forest service land use rules, which is a different thing entirely from FAA airspace.

i'd check notam.faa.gov directly and also look up if that specific forest has any UAV policies, some of them have banned drones entirely as a land management thing even if the airspace itself is technically fine. it's annoying because those two systems dont talk to each other at all.

the apps missing stuff is a real thing, ive had b4ufly show green for a location and then when i cross referenced on skyvector there was actually a class D extension i was clipping the edge of. not saying thats what happened to you but i dont fully trust any single app anymore. i usually check two or three before i fly anywhere thats even close to being questionable. also TFRs for wildfires are a huge thing if you're near federal land in the west, they can get put up same day
