EVO II Pro keeps losing connection mid flight ? not sure whats going on

  • Members

this has been happening for a few weeks now and its getting kind of scary honestly. im flying the EVO II Pro, been using it for about a year and a half with no real issues. lately though im getting these random disconnects where the video feed just cuts and the controller kind of freezes up for a second or two then comes back. drone seems to RTH on its own when it happens which i guess is good but its happened twice now at like 300 feet over water and my heart was not okay lol.

i dont think its interference, im flying in pretty open areas. updated the firmware a while back but cant remember exactly when. autel's app has been a little glitchy on my phone too lately which makes me wonder if thats part of it but i dont know enough to know where to start troubleshooting this thing. anyone dealt with this?

first thing id check is whether the app update and the firmware update are actually in sync. autel has had some issues where a newer version of the skyview app doesnt play nice with older firmware on the drone side or vice versa, ive seen it cause exactly the kind of glitchy behavior you're describing. go into the app settings and check what firmware version its reporting on the aircraft and compare it to what autel has current on their site. also try a different phone if you have one, i know that sounds basic but sometimes the app just gets corrupted and a clean reinstall on a different device makes the whole thing behave again.

also worth checking the controller antenna orientation ? i know you said open area but sometimes people fly with the antennas pointed the wrong direction without thinking about it and it tanks signal at range

ugh the autel app has been such a pain lately, im on android and it just randomly crashes sometimes even when im not flying which is annoying. havent had the disconnect issue you're describing though. hope you get it sorted, flying over water with a flaky connection sounds genuinely stressful
