so ive been using litchi for probably 3 years now and its fine but its starting to feel kind of stale? like the interface hasnt really changed and some of the newer features i keep reading about on dronelink look genuinely useful. mainly talking about the conditional actions stuff and better camera control during missions.

my main use is doing inspection work on solar farms so i need pretty precise gimbal control and the ability to set specific capture angles at each waypoint without babysitting the whole flight. litchi does this but its clunky and i always feel like im fighting the software more than flying.

anyone actually made the switch or use both? is there a learning curve or does it translate pretty naturally if youre already comfortable with waypoint planning in general. also wondering if the dronelink subscription is actually worth it vs litchi one time purchase at this point

switched about 8 months ago and honestly havent looked back. the conditional actions thing is a real feature not just marketing ? i use it for mapping flights where i want the camera to tilt based on altitude changes and it actually works reliably. litchi always felt like it was designed for cinematic stuff and then kind of bolted inspection features on later.

learning curve is maybe a week to feel comfortable, two weeks before youre not double checking everything. the waypoint interface is different enough that muscle memory doesnt transfer great but the logic is the same. subscription stings a little but if youre doing professional work the extra control is worth it, at least for me on a mini 3 pro setup.

i use dronelink for photogrammetry missions mostly and its solid but i'll be honest the offline mode can be a bit flaky sometimes. had a mission fail to sync properly before a flight once and had to replan on site which was not fun. just something to test beforehand if youre in areas with bad signal
