so ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks now and i cant make up my mind. background: i fly maybe once or twice a week, mostly landscape stuff and the occasional family trip video. nothing serious, not trying to go pro or anything like that.

the mini 3 pro feels like the obvious choice price wise but every time i watch a comparison video someone brings up the air 3's dual cameras and the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and i start second guessing myself again. like does that stuff actually matter day to day or is it one of those specs that sounds great but you barely use it

also the mini 3 pro being under 250g is genuinely useful where i live because of local registration rules so thats a real factor, not just a nice to have. anyway curious what people here actually think who own one or both

honestly? for casual landscape flying the mini 3 pro is probably all you need. i had the air 2s before and switched down to a mini 3 pro last year mostly for the weight thing and i dont miss the bigger sensor as much as i thought i would. the image quality is genuinely impressive for the size and the RC2 controller pairing is super smooth now with the latest firmware updates.

the omni obstacle avoidance on the air 3 is nice but if youre not flying in dense forests or tight spaces you'll barely notice the difference. the front and rear sensors on the mini 3 pro have kept me out of trouble plenty of times. i think people oversell the air 3 upgrade unless youre really pushing into professional territory or shooting in challenging conditions a lot.

im kind of in the same boat as you tbh, just went with the mini 3 pro last month and no regrets so far. the under 250g thing was the deciding factor for me too. havent had a chance to fly the air 3 so cant really compare but the footage i've been getting looks great on my youtube channel so
