this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a hardware thing or something in my settings. flying the mavic 3 classic with the RC controller (the one with the built in screen) and im getting signal warnings at distances that just seem way too short. like sometimes under 500 meters in open fields with nothing around.

its not consistent either which is the weird part. some days it's totally fine, other days it starts cutting in and out almost immediately. ive checked for interference from other devices and nothing obvious stands out. firmware is up to date i think, checked it a couple weeks ago.

not sure if its the RC unit itself or the drone or maybe just where im flying. there's a cell tower maybe half a kilometer away but i wouldnt think that would cause this much trouble. anyone had similar issues or know what to actually look at here

the RC controller with built in screen has had some signal issues for certain users ? theres actually a few threads about it over on the DJI forums too. first thing id check is whether youre holding the controller in a way that blocks the antennas, sounds dumb but it makes a real difference. the antennas on that RC unit need to be fanned out and pointed toward the drone, not just sticking straight up.

also worth doing a full controller calibration and if you havent already, try toggling between the frequency bands in the settings (2.4 vs 5.8 ghz). the 5.8 is faster but way more susceptible to interference, especially near cell infrastructure. swapping to 2.4 in that environment might smooth things out a lot. cell towers can absolutely cause grief with 5.8.

ive seen inconsistent signal stuff on my mavic 3 too and never fully figured it out, mine seemed to get better after a firmware update a while back but i couldnt tell you which one. are you flying in the same location each time or does it happen everywhere? if its only in one spot i'd bet on the cell tower tbh
