finally picked up an EVO Nano+ and honestly surprised by how good it is

so ive been flying DJI minis for a couple years and my buddy kept telling me to try an Autel and i always kind of brushed it off because you know, DJI ecosystem, everything just works, why bother. but then the Nano+ went on sale and i figured whatever ill give it a shot.

first thing i noticed is the orange is actually really easy to spot in the sky which sounds dumb but after losing visual on my mini a few times in weird lighting it actually matters to me now. the image quality out of this thing is genuinely impressive for the size, the 1/1.28 sensor does its thing in low light way better than i expected. colors feel a little more saturated out of camera compared to what i was getting on the mini 3 but thats not necessarily bad.

the SkyLink connection has been solid so far, havent had a dropout yet and ive been flying in a semi-urban area with a lot of interference. only thing that bugs me is the app still feels a little rougher around the edges compared to DJI Fly, some menus are buried in weird places. but im getting used to it. anyone else make the switch from DJI to Autel and have tips or things i should know about?

welcome to the orange side lol. yeah the app is the main thing people complain about and honestly it has gotten better over the last few firmware updates but it still isnt quite as polished. one thing i'd suggest is dig into the camera settings early and set up your own custom profile, the default sharpening is a bit heavy handed for my taste. also make sure you update firmware before you fly too much, Autel pushes updates pretty regularly and a couple of them have made a noticeable difference in how the gimbal handles wind.

the low light thing you mentioned is real, i shoot a lot at dusk and the Nano+ genuinely holds its own against stuff you'd expect to cost way more. enjoy it

I had one for about 6 months before I sold it. The image quality is genuinely great, no argument there. My issue was more the obstacle avoidance felt a bit twitchy in some situations, had it stop and hover for no obvious reason a few times. Could have been my settings. Might be worth digging into the sensitivity adjustments if you notice anything weird like that.
