so ive been seeing more posts on reddit and a few local flying groups about people actually getting approached at fields now, like actual enforcement of remote ID. for the longest time it felt like the rule existed but nobody was really checking. had a buddy fly at a park last weekend and some guy in a vest came over and asked about his module. he had one but it wasnt broadcasting properly because of a firmware issue he didnt know about.

anyway im not trying to freak anyone out just wondering if others are noticing this more in their area or if its still pretty lax where you are. also curious if the FRIA situation near you has changed at all, our local club has been waiting on ours for like 14 months now which is kind of ridiculous honestly

yeah its been picking up for sure, at least in my area (socal). i think part of it is they deputized some local law enforcement to handle complaints so its not just FAA inspectors anymore. which honestly makes sense given how stretched they are but also means the person confronting you might not fully understand the rules either lol. your friend was lucky he had a module at all, ive seen people show up to fields with nothing and just shrug about it.

the FRIA thing is a whole mess. our club submitted ours early and we finally got approved but it took forever and the process was not transparent at all. no updates, no timeline, just waiting. hang in there i guess

wait what is FRIA? im still pretty new to all this and i have a mini 3 pro, do i need to worry about this stuff too or is it only for bigger drones
