okay so this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to just ask. my mavic 3 (not the classic, the original one) has been dropping to one bar or showing signal warnings at distances that seem way too short. like im talking maybe 800 meters in fairly open conditions and it gets sketchy, ive had it cut out and return to home twice now which is nerve wracking.

i dont think there's anything physically wrong with the drone itself, it flies fine otherwise and the footage looks great. im using the RC pro controller which i thought was supposed to have really good range. the area i usually fly isnt super congested with wifi but its suburban so theres definitely some interference i guess.

anyone dealt with this or have any ideas what to check first before i start the whole DJI support process which i really dont want to do

first thing i'd check is the antenna orientation on the RC pro ? a lot of people dont realize those antennas need to be perpendicular to the drone's direction of flight to work properly, not just pointed straight up. sounds basic but i've seen that fix things before. also worth checking if there's a firmware update you might have skipped, there were a couple updates a while back that specifically addressed some OcuSync transmission stuff.

if neither of those help, try flying somewhere genuinely rural with minimal RF noise and see if the range improves. if it suddenly works fine out there then yeah it's interference at your usual spots and you might need to mess with the transmission channel settings in the app manually rather than leaving it on auto.

RC pro had a weird batch of units with antenna connection issues, its not super common but it happens. mine was doing somthing similar and it turned out one of the internal antenna cables had a slightly loose connection. DJI support actually handled it pretty painlessly when i went through the refresh program, took about 10 days total. worth at least starting the ticket even if you dread it
