so ive been building my own quads for a few years now but honestly im just tired of spending a weekend soldering and debugging every time i want a new cruiser. thinking about just picking up something prebuilt that i can throw betaflight on and tune from there rather than starting from scratch.

the Nazgul Evoque has been on my radar for a while and the price seems decent but i keep seeing people say the stock tune is kinda mush and the motors they throw on it are whatever. is that still the case or has iflight cleaned that up in the newer batches? also wondering if theres something else in that price range i should be comparing it to, like the diatone Roma or maybe something from flywoo. not really interested in going the DJI route for this one, id want to run elrs anyway.

mostly doing freestyle with some occasional fast lines, not racing. weight and durability matter more to me than raw speed at this point.

had the Nazgul Evoque F5 v2 for about 8 months, flew it pretty hard. the stock tune out of the box is honestly not terrible for what it is but yeah you will want to go in and at least bump up the master multiplier and clean up the D term filtering because it runs a bit hot stock especially in summer. motors are the xing2 or similar rebrands depending on the batch you get, they're fine, not amazing. i broke two arms in that time and the replacement parts are at least easy to find which counts for something.

diatone roma is a solid alternative but i feel like their QC is more hit or miss than iflight, had a buddy get one with a dead ESC out of the box and the customer service thing was a whole ordeal. flywoo is good if you can stomach the wait times. for elrs just swap the rx out anyway since the stock receivers on most of these are sbus or whatever garbage they bundle in.

i got the Evoque late last year as my first non-kit quad and honestly the stock tune flies okay for bando stuff, nothing mindblowing but it tracks fine. i didnt really mess with betaflight much yet tho so maybe im not the best judge lol. the camera mount cracked on mine after like the third crash which was annoying
