ok so ive been running my old dominator V3s for like 3 years now and theyre starting to show their age, one of the screens has a dead pixel cluster in the lower right and the foam is basically disintegrated. so im finally looking at upgrading but now theres so many options i kinda dont know where to start.

my main question is whether i should stay in the analog world and just get the HDO2 or bite the bullet and go digital with walksnail avatar. i fly mostly freestyle and some light racing at the local track. latency is obviously a concern but ive heard walksnail has gotten way better with recent firmware. the HDO2 optics are supposed to be insane compared to what ive been using but then again once you fly digital its hard to go back apparently.

budget is somewhere around 300-400 if i stretch it. not trying to sell a kidney here. anyone made this switch recently or have opinions either way?

honestly the walksnail v2 goggles are right in your budget range and the latency thing people complained about is mostly a non-issue now, like its down to around 22ms which for freestyle you wont even notice. the image quality difference vs analog is just night and day, especially in low light situations. i did a sunrise session last week and the avatar system handled it way better than my buddy running his HDO2 with a rapidfire module.

that said if you race seriously and the gates are tight then some people still swear by analog just for that zero-latency feel. for freestyle though id say go digital, you wont regret it. just make sure you budget for decent antennas on the VTX side too, the stock ones that come with most avatar AIOs are mediocre at best and swapping to a lollipop or pagoda makes a noticeable differnece in penetration through trees and buildings.

HDO2 is still a great goggle dont get me wrong but youre basically investing in a dying ecosystem at this point. analog isnt dead but its not growing either. id put money toward digital and not look back.
