been shooting with my mini 4 pro for a few months now and the footage looks fine but i keep seeing people talk about ND filters and the 180 degree shutter rule and all that. ive been putting it off because there are so many options and i honestly dont know where to start. like do i need the DJI ones specifically or are the third party ones just as good. and how many do you actually need to carry around, i see some kits with like 6 or 8 filters which seems like overkill but maybe its not. mostly shooting landscape stuff on sunny days and occasionally early morning. not doing any paid work just hobby stuff so dont want to spend a ton but also dont want garbage quality filters messing up my shots

Honestly for hobby use the Freewell or K&F Concept sets are totally fine and way cheaper than DJI branded ones. I've been using the Freewell magnetic set for about a year on my mini 3 and the image quality is indistinguishable from the original DJI filters in my opinion. For sunny landscape shooting you'll probably reach for the ND16 and ND64 most often. the ND256 is handy for really bright midday situations. you dont need 8 filters, a 4 pack covers like 90% of situations. just get the transition or variable ones if you want to simplify things even more though some people say variable filters can introduce a tiny bit of softness at the extremes

the 180 rule stuff is worth learning but honestly on a mini for casual landscape shots sometimes I just eyeball it and it looks fine. I have the DJI ND set and they work great but I paid way too much for them. if i was buying again id probably go third party. the main thing is just getting something on there for bright days because the footage without them can look really choppy with fast movement
