mini 4 pro vs air 3 ? which one would you actually buy in

  • Members

so ive been going back and forth on this for like two months now and i keep changing my mind so figured id just ask here. my budget is around $800-900 and im mostly shooting landscape and some travel stuff, occasional video but im not a professional or anything. i had a mini 2 before and sold it which i kind of regret now.

the mini 4 pro seems like the obvious answer for travel because of the under 250g thing and i dont have to register it everywhere but then the air 3 has that dual camera setup and the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance which honestly sounds pretty nice. also the air 3 sensor is bigger i think? someone told me low light is way better on it but i havent been able to test both side by side.

i keep reading reviews that just seem like they were written to sell me something so wanted to hear from people who actually use one of these day to day. anyone made this call recently?

i went through this exact same thing lol ended up getting the air 3 and dont regret it but i will say the size difference is more noticeable in a bag than i expected. its not huge but its not nothing

had the mini 4 pro for about 8 months and honestly the weight class thing is way more useful than i expected. crossed three borders with it this summer and barely had to think about permits or registration. the 4k/100fps is legit good too, way better than i thought for a sub-250 drone.

that said if you're not traveling internationally that much i think the air 3 probably wins on pure image quality. a friend of mine has one and the wide + medium zoom combo is really useful in the field, you can cover a lot without moving the drone. low light is noticeably better too, we tested them at dusk once and the air 3 held up longer before noise got bad. it really just depends how much the weight class matters to your specific situation i think.
